3 Rivers Eco Lodge is set on a secluded 6.5 acre plot, in a lush rainforest valley, in Eastern Dominica. We are on the edge of the rainforest, about a mile away from the main road, making it an extremely quiet and peaceful place. The site is bordered by 3 clean rivers and set against a backdrop of rain forested mountains, a twenty minute walk from a spectacular Atlantic beach.
We offer secluded accommodation in environmentally friendly surroundings. Guests can bathe in one of our natural river pools, wander amongst our organic gardens and picnic areas, or walk up into the rainforest. Our restaurant/bar, overlooking the river, is open all day, providing fresh drinks snacks and meals, prepared as much as possible from our own organic produce. There are frequent live music sessions by local bands, and guests are more than welcome to participate.
The communal area is open any time you want it to be, where guests can mingle, relax, read, or play one of the many games provided. There is a large children's play area, where the kids (big or small) can have fun, allowing the parents to "free up" and relax. 3 Rivers is the perfect place to relax, unwind, and do nothing except laze about enjoying our natural surroundings. However, for those of you who prefer a more active holiday, we offer all sorts of activities, both on and off site. Hopefully we have something to suit the taste of every visitor.

Dominica has remained unspoiled for thousands of years. It boasts spectacular tropical scenery of beaches, forest, mountains, rivers, lakes and waterfalls. The people are as warm and friendly as the weather, and their cuisine is as diverse as their origins. There is also a wide variety of stunning flora and fauna, including several unique species. With a typically tropical climate of abundant sunshine and rainfall, it is the ideal eco tourist destination. Come and sample our hospitality, and we'll help you get the most from all that Dominica has to offer.
In the forest you will find an abundance of interesting creatures, including our resident possom, the Manicou, the Agouti which is sort of a cross between a rat and a guinea pig, the very endangered Mountain Chicken (which is actually a kind of frog), green iguanas and boa constrictors. There are also two indigenous species of parrot, as well as many other colourful birds with great singing voices.
Our local beach at Rosalie (20 minutes walk from 3 Rivers) is a popular nesting ground for a few different types of turtle, and whale watching is also a popular and rewarding activity here in Dominica. If all this is too much, just relax and enjoy the natural beauty of 3 Rivers Known as the 'Nature Isle of the Caribbean'.
3 Rivers is situated in an environment of outstanding natural beauty, and one of our most fundamental aims is to live in harmony with, and have as little harmful impact on, those surroundings as possible. We recognize that our business has an important role to play in protecting and enhancing the environment for guests and the residents of the local community.
In keeping with this goal, every aspect of the project has the environment in mind. We espouse a sustainable lifestyle, minimizing our use of all resources, and monitoring all systems. We currently use the sun for all our electricity, for pumping our water from the river, and for heating our hot water. We plan to install a microhydro system as soon as we can afford to in order to increase the amount of electricity available to us, and run our truck on used cooking oil. We compost all kitchen and garden waste, and use that compost to help us grow as much organic food as we can. We try to minimise our water consumption, grey water goes through grease traps to be used in the garden, and our campers use dry toilets. Whenever possible, we try to avoid purchasing packaged goods, shop locally, recycle and use biodegradable products, and we try to keep our waste products to a minimum.
An important aspect of this policy is to involve the local community. Our employees all come from local villages, and we train them in sustainable living. We are trying to showcase environmentally sound practices, hosting free school visits and giving guided tours explaining renewable energy, organic gardening, and the lifestyle in general, as well as being involved in various local community projects.
We are a fully benchmarked member of Green Globe 21 and are near the end of a year long application process to achieve Green Globe 21 certification and are a full member of The International Eco Tourism Society. Accordingly, we aim to comply fully with, and go beyond, all environmental laws and regulations, and to communicate our policies and practices to all interested parties, from guests up to government officials. We hope we can help Dominica retain its still relatively un spoilt environment, and move into a greener future.
