Highway Tours is a family run tour company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and dedicated to providing a quality, eco-friendly and value for money holiday experience to Ethiopia.

We provide site seeing tours, adventure tours, bird watching tours, historic and cultural tours and have been operating successfully since 2006.

Ethiopian ancient history

Ethiopia history dates back to ancient medieval and Mediterranean civilizations. Witnessed to be the Eighth Wonder of the World, the rock hewn and cave churches of Lalibela are incredible sites. Carved in and out of solid rock, they are witnessed to undoubtedly rank among the greatest historical sites in the Christian world.

Being the world's tallest carved out of a single stone, Axum steles strike you for their huge size and pristine preservation. Gonder, the Ethiopian medieval capital also boasts a large royal enclosure containing grand castles, palaces, houses and outbuildings.

Ethiopian authentic culture

Ethiopia's south, particularly the lower Omo valley, is inhabited by an astonishing mix of small, contrasting ethnic groups uniquely known for their natural artistic impulses.

Ethiopian landscape

The UNESCO world heritage site the "Simien Mountain National Park" a wide range of impressive escarpment, super view points and summits. It is a great place for trekkers and mountain climbers. Some great endemic mammals like Walia ibex, Ethiopian wolf, and Gelada baboons dwell in the area.

To the south east of Ethiopia, one finds the massive Bale Mountains National Park the largest afro alpine habitat in Africa, covering a wide range of habitats and ranging in altitude from 1,500 to 4,377 meters. The park has recently been voted No.4 on a list of the best birding sites in Africa.

* To the south east, we organize trekking and wildlife photo safaris at Bale Mountains; a superb tour for viewing mammals and birds unique to Ethiopia in the largest alpine habitat on the African continent. You will have unsurpassed opportunities for mountain walking, horse trekking and scenic driving to see a wide variety of endemic mammals and birds.
