Lion Park Tents

Lion Cub

Drakenstein Lion Park is involved in the rescuing of lions in distress, both locally and overseas. The Park provides lifetime care to all the animals it rescues.

The Park currently houses fifteen lions (the largest lion population in the Western Cape). The animals at the Park are assured a chance of living out their natural lives in an enriched environment.

We are not involved in the gratuitous breeding and hand rearing of lion cubs for human playthings and actively oppose this practice. As the park is not involved in the breeding of and the trade in lions, its sole source of funding is the nominal admission fee charged.

The Lion sanctuary is situated on 7.5 hectares of ground in the scenic Cape Winelands. Visitors to the park can enjoy a unique “wildlife” experience only 30 minutes from Cape Town. One can stroll through the park at your leisure and view these magnificent beasts at eye level or get a bird’s eye view from one of the raised viewing platforms.

The Park is open daily (except Christmas Day) from 09h30 to 17h00 and bookings are not required. The cost of daytime entry is R30 for adults and R15 for kids.
