Terra Incognita Ecotours for trips that make a difference to you and to the places we visit. We have scheduled departures to Rwanda; Brazil, New Zealand, Belize; Costa Rica; China; Borneo; Madagascar; and Peru.
Rwanda
Our Gorillas in the Mist trip to Rwanda includes TWO Gorilla treks, stays
in luxurious lodges, visits the grave of Dian Fossey, views sunbirds and
wildlife galore, we see incredible scenery, meet the veterinarians working to
protect the Gorillas, visit both Virungas National Park and Akagera National
Park - all this in one week!
Borneo
Our Borneo Red Ape Encounter takes us on a journey covering local cultures, a
World Heritage Site, the base of the highest mountain in Southeast Asia, and a
trip upon the Kinabatangan River - the river and its surrounding rainforest
wetlands make up one of the richest ecosystems on the planet. Vieiwnig of wild
Orang Utans are guaranteed. We end with a few days on Lankayan Island, where
Sea Turtles share the beach with us and the waters are teeming with tropical
life.
Madagascar
In Madagascar enjoy a two-week photo safari through the land that time forgot.
Travel to four different ecosystems and witness a remarkable diversity of
wildlife. Indris at Perinet, sifakas in Ampijoroa and ring-tailed lemurs galore
in Berenty. This trip will exceed all your expectations.
Pantanal, Brazil
Experience a South American Savannah safari that will include sightings of
Jaguars, Tapirs, Macaws and much more. The Pantanal is the largest inundated
plain in the world and is a refuge for many endangered species like the jaguar,
hyacinth macaw, the giant anteater and the giant otter. Stay in comfortable
lodges, camps and a 35,000 acre working cattle ranch.
New Zealand
A two week adventure to both the North and South islands that includes
incredible wildlife, scenery and culture. We witness newly-hatched penguins,
the flightless kiwi, keas and kakapo, spectacular marine life, Maori culture,
high altitude sheep farming, majestic fjords, seals, dolphins, rainforest,
glaciers and so much more.
Belize
In Belize we visit the Maya ruins at Lamanai and Tikal, scuba/snorkel on the
Barrier Reef, relax at Chaa Creek Cottages, canoe the Macal River, track
wildlife at Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve, and help Harpy Eagle reintroduction
efforts.
Costa Rica
In Costa Rica explore the rainforest, waterfalls, spot quetzals, marvel at the
cloud forest, go whitewater rafting, see monkeys and macaws, fiery-topped
volcanoes, hummingbirds, soak in hot springs, go horseback riding, hear
bellbirds, all included.
Peru
In Peru, travel from the mighty Amazon to the Andes as we journey through a
wild and exotic land. Visit the awe-inspiring ruins of Machu Picchu,
witness ancient cultures and see all manner of exotic animals. Travel back in
time as we trek through the High Andes.
China
In China we go in search of WILD Giant Pandas. A one week trekking holiday in
Foping Nature Reserve where the highest recorded density of WILD Giant pandas
has been found. An incredible adventure that includes a visit to the Terra
Cotta Warriors in Xi An.
